# How do I review and approve AI-generated Meta ads before they go live?

Review the creative, destination and enabled enhancements before authorizing activation, and keep creation separate from going live. A paused ad and a workflow that waits for your decision give you a review point; Meta's own ad review checks Advertising Standards and is not your brand's approval of the copy or image.

## Where does approval happen?

Check which decision you are making at each step. Creating an object, approving its content, activating it and Meta's policy review are separate events.

| Review point | What it establishes | What still needs checking | Checked |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Draft or paused creation | The ad is prepared without being activated through that creation step | Final content, destination, placement and activation authority | Meta Ads MCP creation docs, 21 October 2026 |
| A person's creative approval | Your team accepts the particular asset, copy and settings it reviewed | Whether that exact version is the one activated | Plainrouter creative workflow, 21 October 2026 |
| Activation | A separate request makes a paused ad eligible to run under applicable checks | Account, ad-set state, policy and delivery status | Meta creation docs and Plainrouter workflow, 21 October 2026 |
| Meta ad review | Meta reviews against its Advertising Standards | Your brand, offer accuracy and approval record remain your responsibility | Meta ad-review help, 21 October 2026 |

Meta's [official MCP creation tools](<https://developers.facebook.com/documentation/ads-commerce/ads-ai-connectors/ads-mcp-server/ads-mcp-server-tools-ad-creation-and-management>) create entities paused and describe a separate activation confirmation. Plainrouter's [creative workflow](</docs/actions/creative-workflow>) likewise documents paused ad copies and a separate activation step under workspace policy. These are documented behaviors, not a creative preview demonstrated in this guide.

## What should a person verify before activation?

Review the complete ad rather than the generated image alone:

- Confirm the intended ad account, campaign and ad set.
- Check the exact image or video, primary text, headline and call to action.
- Verify the offer, price, claims and any required disclosures.
- Open the destination and check that it matches the ad; inspect the tracking parameters.
- Review placement previews for crop, legibility and safe areas.
- Inspect every enabled Advantage+ creative enhancement and approve its permitted variations.
- Confirm the budget context, start time and who has authority to activate.
- Keep the reviewed version and the activation decision together; inspect the resulting delivery state afterward.

Use the [Meta ad specs reference](</library/meta-ad-specs>) for sizes and crops. Meeting a format specification does not guarantee policy approval or performance.

## Can Advantage+ creative change what I approved?

Yes. Meta says enabled enhancements can adjust media and text, and some may be on by default. Inspect the actual enhancements offered for the format and placements; turn off those you do not want applied and review the available previews.

Meta's [Advantage+ creative documentation](<https://www.facebook.com/business/help/297506218282224>) describes variable availability and changes to images, video, text and music. Approving an original asset is not the same as approving every transformation enabled around it.

## What did our current approval-policy read show?

On 21 October 2026, a real read from a Plainrouter workspace returned the current policy excerpt below. Identifiers and all other policy fields are omitted.

```json
{
  "execution_mode": "ask"
}
```

In Ask mode every change, including activating a new ad, waits for a person. This read shows the workspace's current policy, not a past proposal, creative preview, approval or executed action. The public sandbox has no creative-preview tool, and no production preview or proposal was made for this guide.

## Where Plainrouter fits

Plainrouter can put supported creative changes through its governed workflow, with new ads created paused and activation handled separately under workspace policy. It does not replace your creative judgment or Meta's policy review; follow the [documented creative workflow](</docs/actions/creative-workflow>) and [agent safety checks](</library/ai-agent-meta-ads-safety>).

## Frequently asked questions

### Does Meta approving the ad mean my team approved it?

No. Meta's review concerns Advertising Standards, while your team's approval concerns the offer, brand, exact creative and intended use. Keep a separate record of your decision.

### If an AI-created ad is paused, can I ignore its parent ad set?

No. Activation is a separate decision, and the surrounding campaign and ad-set settings matter. Check the complete target and spend context before authorizing that step.

### Does Full mode always wait for creative approval?

No. Eligible unprotected work can follow Full mode automatically; do not rely on a chat instruction to pause execution after submitting it. Use Ask when you need a person's per-change decision, and check the [documented approval rules](</docs/actions/policies-and-safety>).
