# 6 Meta Ads MCP servers compared: costs and approvals

For first-party Meta access, start with **Meta's own Ads MCP server**. For a hosted draft-review workflow, compare **AdKit**; for marketing integrations beyond ad platforms, consider **Markifact**. **Pipeboard** offers hosted advertising connectors with a free entry plan, while **GoMarble's open-source server** suits developers who want to run reporting tools locally. **Plainrouter** fits an account-bound workflow combining conversion-signal diagnostics with governed creative proposals.

The best choice depends on what your agent needs to read, what it may change, and who approves that change. A reporting connection and an ad-management workflow can both use MCP while exposing very different capabilities.

It is published by Plainrouter, which is included in the comparison. We reviewed public product documentation, pricing pages, and the named open-source repository on September 15, 2026. This is a documentation comparison, not a hands-on benchmark; we have not tested competitors' authenticated products. The numbered entries organize the options, rather than rank performance.

## Which Meta Ads MCP server should you choose?

| Option | Best fit in this shortlist | Main trade-off |
| -------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Meta Ads MCP | First-party access to Meta reporting and ad operations | Meta-focused; evaluate your client's approval behavior separately |
| AdKit | Reviewing campaign and creative drafts in a hosted toolbox | Subscription and project/account limits |
| GoMarble open source | Local, inspectable Meta reporting tools | You maintain the runtime and token; this is distinct from GoMarble's hosted product |
| Markifact | Combining ad operations with analytics and other marketing services | Usage credits as well as subscription cost |
| Pipeboard | Hosted advertising connectors across platforms | Account slots and plan-specific operation limits |
| Plainrouter | One account's signal diagnostics and creative proposals | Focused Meta scope; proposals do not imply arbitrary campaign or budget execution |

These recommendations use four criteria: workflow coverage, setup ownership, change controls, and cost. The provider sections below link to the evidence for each choice. We do not award scores for tool count or assume an undocumented feature is absent.

## What does each option cost?

Published prices reviewed September 15, 2026. USD and EUR amounts are shown separately; they are not currency-converted comparisons. Advertising spend and any AI-client subscription are separate from the connector's price.

| Option | Entry price or trial | What determines the bill |
| -------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

## 1. Meta Ads MCP: first-party Meta access

Meta hosts its server at `https://mcp.facebook.com/ads`. Its documentation covers reporting, creating and editing campaigns/ad sets/ads, catalogs, signal health, experiments, troubleshooting, and account activity logs. This makes it the first option to evaluate when your requirement is access to Meta's own advertising capabilities. [Official overview](https://developers.facebook.com/documentation/ads-commerce/ads-ai-connectors/ads-mcp-server/ads-mcp-server-overview).

The setup documentation supports OAuth and user access tokens. It also points advertisers without their own Meta developer app to a separate setup flow, so creating an app is not a universal prerequisite. Follow the instructions that match your client and account access. [Connection requirements](https://developers.facebook.com/documentation/ads-commerce/ads-ai-connectors/ads-mcp-server/ads-mcp-server-get-started).

**Choose it when:** you want Meta-hosted tools and can work within Meta's supported operations. **Choose another option when:** you need a separate workflow layer, local source ownership, or connections beyond Meta. Do not assume a hosted connector automatically includes a separate human review queue.

## 2. AdKit: campaign drafts and creative work in one toolbox

AdKit describes campaign analysis, creative generation, competitor-ad research, and management tasks such as pausing or duplicating ads. Its documented workflow stores changes as drafts for review in AdKit before publication. Accounts connect through AdKit, then the AI client connects to its hosted MCP service. [Product workflow](https://adkit.so/features/ads-mcp/meta).

**Choose it when:** your priority is preparing and reviewing campaign or creative changes in the same hosted product. **Choose another option when:** you primarily need an inspectable local reporting server, or your workflow does not justify another creative-tool subscription.

The Single Project plan includes one account on each supported platform. Evaluate the multi-project plan if you manage several brands. Approval behavior here is the provider's documented workflow, not an independently verified safety guarantee.

## 3. GoMarble open source: local Meta reporting

GoMarble publishes a Python MCP server under the MIT license. Its listed tools retrieve ad accounts, campaigns, ad sets, ads, creatives, performance insights, and change history. The repository documents local installation and a Meta access token; its installer also describes an assisted token-creation route. [Repository and setup](https://github.com/gomarble-ai/facebook-ads-mcp-server).

**Choose it when:** you want to inspect and run the server yourself for reporting and account analysis. **Choose another option when:** you want a maintained hosted service or a ready-made campaign drafting and approval interface.

Evaluate the open-source server on its own documented tool set. GoMarble's separate hosted product has a different scope; a hosted-product feature claim does not establish support in this repository. Local ownership also means maintaining dependencies, client configuration, and token renewal.

## 4. Markifact: connected marketing operations

Markifact documents multi-account reporting, campaign and ad-set creation, creative and audience operations, and connections to services such as Google Ads, GA4, and Sheets. It provides hosted OAuth setup and describes approval before write operations go live. [Meta Ads MCP capabilities](https://www.markifact.com/meta-ads-mcp).

**Choose it when:** your task combines advertising work with the wider marketing stack—for example, reporting across accounts and moving the result into a shared workflow. **Choose another option when:** you only need a small local reporting connection or a narrowly scoped Meta workflow.

Budget for usage as well as the plan: Markifact's pricing documentation distinguishes free discovery/utility calls from credit-consuming data operations. Compare the cost of a representative recurring task, not just the monthly subscription.

## 5. Pipeboard: hosted advertising connectors

Pipeboard documents hosted MCP connectors for Meta, Google, TikTok, Snap, and Reddit. Its Meta service covers reporting, campaign management, creative uploads, budget updates, and pause/resume operations. The repository describes OAuth setup, explicit write confirmation, and paused creation where the platform supports it. [Maintained repository](https://github.com/pipeboard-co/meta-ads-mcp).

**Choose it when:** you want hosted ad-platform connections and an entry plan for a small evaluation. **Choose another option when:** you need to own the server implementation or require a review process beyond the documented confirmation step.

Check the tools for each advertising platform separately. Also check the plan: account slots, duplication, bulk operations, and permission-scoped tokens have different allowances. A common provider and authentication flow do not make every connector's capabilities identical.

## 6. Plainrouter: signal diagnostics and governed creative proposals

Plainrouter's production MCP token binds a client to one workspace and one Meta ad account. The client cannot select another account with that token. A credential-free synthetic sandbox lets you check connectivity first. [Setup](https://plainrouter.com/docs/mcp/setup) and [token scope](https://plainrouter.com/docs/mcp/workspace-tokens).

Its tools read account state, signal health, stored performance comparisons, and the creative library. Creative tools can propose a JPEG/PNG upload or a permanently paused copy of an existing ad with a selected asset. Proposal calls do not write to Meta during the MCP request. In **Suggest only**, approval ends without execution; executable modes still require the policy and approval pipeline to authorize supported work. [Tool reference](https://plainrouter.com/docs/mcp/tools).

**Choose it when:** your task starts with conversion-signal evidence and leads to a supported creative proposal for one account. **Choose another option when:** you need cross-platform campaign management, generated video, or general budget automation. A proposal is not proof that an arbitrary operation can execute.

To evaluate connectivity, follow the [sandbox walkthrough](https://plainrouter.com/docs/mcp/setup#start-in-test-mode) and request `get_account_state`, then `get_signal_health`. Synthetic responses demonstrate the connection, not real account performance. Review [pricing](/pricing) before connecting your production workspace.

## Compare approval behavior before enabling writes

Three different controls can all be described as “approval”: an AI client asking to call a tool, a provider retaining a draft for review, and a policy authorizing execution. Establish which one your workflow actually uses.

| Option | Documented change control | What to verify |
| -------------------- | ------------------------------------------ | ----------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Meta Ads MCP | Permission-scoped Meta tools | Client confirmation and the exact write's behavior |
| AdKit | Changes remain drafts until approval | Reviewer view and what the approved draft will change |
| GoMarble open source | Reviewed tool list focuses on retrieval | Actual installed code and token permissions before extending it |
| Markifact | Approval-based write operations | The approval boundary for your selected operation |
| Pipeboard | Explicit write confirmation | Confirmation and account/token scope for each platform |
| Plainrouter | Policy and approval pipeline for proposals | Suggest-only versus executable mode and supported creative action |

Use the linked primary sources above, then evaluate one concrete task: select the account, read a report you can verify, inspect a proposed change, and confirm how its eventual result is recorded. Prefer a provider sandbox or a dedicated test account where available; do not use live ad spend to test basic connectivity.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is Meta Ads MCP the same as Facebook Ads MCP?

Both names commonly describe an MCP connection to Meta advertising, including Facebook and Instagram. The provider still determines the tools, account permissions, and supported actions available through that connection.

### Do I need a paid MCP provider?

Not necessarily. Start by comparing Meta's official access and local open-source options against your task. A hosted subscription may be worthwhile for managed setup, additional integrations, support, or a review workflow. Compare total setup and maintenance effort alongside the published price.

### Does MCP access mean an agent can spend money?

The protocol name alone does not answer that. Look at the exposed tools, account permissions, and execution controls. Some connections expose retrieval tools; others can create or edit campaigns. A client confirmation prompt is not the same as a separate provider approval queue.

### Which option should I try first?

Start with the job in the shortlist: Meta for first-party access, GoMarble open source for local reporting, or a hosted provider matching your review and integration needs. For Plainrouter's signal-and-creative workflow, start with the synthetic sandbox before issuing an account-bound token.
