# How do I test Meta creatives after Andromeda when new ads get little spend?

Choose the testing method before deciding that an unspent creative lost. Meta's A/B test separates audiences, its Creative test feature allocates part of an existing budget to new test ads, and ordinary delivery inside an ad set does not promise equal spend. A new ad receiving little delivery is not, by itself, evidence that its concept failed or that Andromeda suppressed it for similarity.

## Which creative-testing options does Meta document?

Match the method to the question. Andromeda retrieves ad candidates before ranking; the [Andromeda guide](</library/meta-andromeda>) covers that system, while this page compares the controls available to an advertiser.

| Method | How spend is split | What is held constant or separated | Minimum or limits per Meta | Source and check date |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| A/B test in Ads Manager or Experiments | Uses the test versions' campaign or ad-set budgets; Meta recommends the same budget for both versions. It is not a guarantee of identical realized spend. | Randomized, non-overlapping audience groups; Meta recommends identical setups except the variable being tested. | Experiments lists up to 5 versions. Ads Manager accepts a 1–30-day schedule; best practice recommends at least 7 days and enough budget for results. | [About A/B testing](<https://www.facebook.com/business/help/1738164643098669>), [Experiments](<https://www.facebook.com/business/help/1915029282150425>), [best practices](<https://www.facebook.com/business/help/290009911394576>), October 22, 2026. |
| Creative test inside an existing campaign | You choose an amount from the existing campaign or ad-set budget; Meta aims to spend it per day across test ads. Its suggestion is no more than 20% of the existing budget, not a hard minimum or a guaranteed cap. | Retains the existing campaign and delivery learnings. It provides delivery to test ads; the page does not establish randomized, non-overlapping audiences like the A/B test. | 2–7 copies/creative variants; Highest volume bid strategy only. No confidence level is included in results. No universal monetary minimum is specified on the reviewed page. | [Set up a creative test](<https://www.facebook.com/business/help/1423851372208214>), October 22, 2026. |
| New ads in an ordinary live ad set | Delivery is optimized within the selected budget and auction opportunities, rather than an explicit equal split per creative. | Shared settings do not create randomized comparison groups. Meta may deliver ads to different people and opportunities. | No universal minimum spend per new creative or fixed evaluation period was found in the reviewed learning and auction pages. | [Learning phase](<https://www.facebook.com/business/help/112167992830700>), [ad auctions](<https://www.facebook.com/business/help/430291176997542>), October 22, 2026. |

This table is a documentation comparison, not a test of these features in our account. “Not specified” is a source boundary, not evidence that every account accepts every budget or configuration.

## How do I use an A/B test for a creative question?

Start with a measurable hypothesis, change one variable and choose a relevant result metric. Meta's [A/B-test setup instructions](<https://www.facebook.com/business/help/355670925639619>) describe the Ads Manager toolbar and using a copied or existing setup; the results are available in Experiments.

Keep audience, schedule, placement, event and other settings aligned except for the intended variable. If you change the audience and creative together, the outcome cannot isolate the creative alone. Meta also advises avoiding overlapping use of the test audience by other campaigns.

The recommended seven-day minimum is not a guarantee of a conclusive result. Conversion delays, too few results or a short study can leave the answer uncertain; [Meta's winner explanation](<https://www.facebook.com/business/help/166313650471318>) specifically discusses those limits. Do not select a winner merely because one number is numerically lower.

## What does the Creative test feature actually do?

Meta's current Help Center page verifies that the feature exists: select an existing campaign, go to ad level and find Creative test. Choose 2–7 copies, the amount of existing budget to use, the measurement duration and comparison metric. The documented bid-strategy requirement is Highest volume; availability and the controls actually offered should be checked in your account.

Three details matter before publishing. First, if test ads are the only active ads, Meta says they may receive more of the daily budget than the selected test amount. Second, ads begin on their ad-set schedule when published; the test schedule governs measurement and is not a separate activation safeguard. Third, after the test the ads continue running with the original budget until turned off or their ad set ends. The feature does not automatically change ads based on results.

Meta says this test's results do not include a confidence level. Do not describe it as the same randomized audience experiment as A/B testing, or promise an even spend split across variants: the reviewed setup page does not establish either claim.

## Why can a new ad get little or no delivery?

Meta documents learning constraints and auction selection, not an entitlement to a fixed share of impressions for every new ad. Check these causes before turning low spend into a verdict on creative quality:

- Learning and edit history: Meta says performance is less stable while a new or significantly edited setup learns. Adding an ad is listed among significant edits.
- Budget and optimization constraints: the [Learning limited page](<https://www.facebook.com/business/help/269269737396981>) names low budget, restrictive bid or cost controls, small audiences, overlap, infrequent optimization events and too many simultaneous ads.
- Auction opportunities: Meta's auction considers bid, estimated action rate and ad quality when deciding what to show. Equal time in an ad set does not establish equal opportunities or spend.

Those are documented mechanisms, not a diagnosis of your account. Start with delivery status and the actual constraint. The claim that a creative similarity score above a fixed percentage causes low delivery was not found in Meta's published sources as of October 22, 2026, within the reviewed documentation; low spend alone cannot establish it.

## What should I record before evaluating the result?

Write down the hypothesis, intended variable, result event, budget, schedule, chosen method and changes made during the measurement window. Keep counts and reporting delays visible, and distinguish a test that lacks evidence from a test that supports a different choice. These are editorial review steps, not a prescribed budget formula or an invented account example.

Review [creative diversification](</library/meta-creative-diversification>) before producing another batch of near-copies. Testing a meaningful difference and reviewing the claim are separate tasks from asking delivery optimization to find opportunities.

## Where can Plainrouter fit?

Plainrouter creates new ads paused. Pausing ads and activating new ads inside an active ad set follow workspace Ask or Full mode: Ask waits for a person; Full can run admitted changes automatically within policy. This is governed execution, not randomized experimentation or proof of a winning creative; see the [creative-approval steps](</library/approve-ai-generated-meta-ads>) and [public action-policy documentation](<https://plainrouter.com/docs/actions/policies-and-safety>).

## Frequently asked questions

### Does low spend mean my new creative is bad?

No. It may not have had enough comparable delivery to answer that question. Inspect the documented budget, learning and auction constraints and use an appropriate testing method before drawing the conclusion.

### Can I force every new ad to spend the same amount?

Ordinary ad-set delivery does not promise that. Meta's creative-test feature provides delivery to test ads using a selected budget amount, but its reviewed documentation does not promise identical spend for each variant.

### Is Meta Creative test the same as an A/B test?

No. The A/B documentation establishes randomized, non-overlapping audience groups. Creative test runs within an existing campaign, retains learnings and reports no confidence level.

### How many creatives can I test in the Creative test feature?

Meta's page checked October 22, 2026 says 2–7 copies and the Highest volume bid strategy. That is distinct from the up-to-five versions listed for A/B testing in Experiments.

## Sources and method

All Meta Help Center sources linked in the comparison and sections were read October 22, 2026. Current Plainrouter policy documentation and advertised MCP instructions were checked the same day. No ad account, creative preview, test campaign or production action was used. The comparison describes documented controls and explicit evidence gaps, not results from running those tools.
