# A custom Meta tracking path for Shopify.

Evaluate Plainrouter for custom Shopify measurement workflows. Compare the built-in Meta connection with a developer-owned event path before adding another purchase sender.

Custom integration assessment · no native Shopify app

## From your workflow to Meta

- **Website** — Capture the permitted visitor context
- **Your backend** — Verify the event and preserve its identity
- **Plainrouter** — Inspect receipt and delivery status
- **Meta** — Deliver eligible conversion events

Browser installation, a valid server request, Meta delivery and ad attribution are separate outcomes.

## What Plainrouter adds

### A clear migration decision

List the events your current integration sends and the diagnostics you are missing. Give each purchase one owner before changing the delivery path.

### An inspectable custom path

When your own backend handles eligible conversions, retain the Plainrouter receipt and inspect destination delivery instead of treating a successful webhook as attribution.

### Creative operations alongside your store

You can evaluate governed Meta creative workflows independently of replacing Shopify tracking. Keep existing measurement while reviewing proposed creative changes.

## Is this a fit for your setup?

For developers running a custom storefront or backend who can preserve the website context, consent and order identity required by the Conversion API. A Shopify order webhook alone does not establish that context.

### When your existing setup is enough

Shopify’s Facebook & Instagram channel already supports Pixel and server-side purchase sharing. If it covers your requirements, keep it. You do not need another service merely to enable Meta CAPI.

## How Shopify conversion tracking works

### Audit the native setup

Review Shopify’s Meta data-sharing configuration and existing senders. Separate storefront events from checkout and post-purchase events.

### Prove the custom context

For a custom integration, establish how the original visitor context and real consent decision reach the backend. Do not paste a generic browser snippet into Shopify’s pixel sandbox and assume compatibility.

### Validate before switching

Use synthetic requests to check the event contract, then verify your integration separately. Plan sender cutover explicitly so the native and custom paths do not both send the same purchase.

## Shopify conversion tracking FAQ

### Is there a Plainrouter Shopify app?

This page describes an integration assessment, not an installable Shopify app or verified Shopify pixel adapter. Standard stores can start with Shopify’s own Meta connection.

### Can I paste the snippet into a custom pixel?

Shopify custom pixels run in a sandbox with different browser access. The generic Plainrouter snippet is not documented as a drop-in adapter for that sandbox.

### Can I use Actions while keeping Shopify tracking?

Creative proposals operate through the connected Meta account. Measurement availability is a separate setup question; keeping Shopify tracking does not automatically populate Plainrouter Signals.

## Have the right setup for a custom integration?

Create your Plainrouter workspace when you have confirmed the browser, consent and server requirements above. Keep your existing purchase sender until you have planned the change.
